Daniy'el | The Man, the Prophet

Author of this Overview
The Prophet, Daniy'el, was a Yahuwdiy prince in the palace in Yerushalayim, who lived about 600 years before the birth of YaHuWshuaH haMashiyach. When he was about fifteen years of age, everything in his life changed abruptly. The city, Yerushalayim, was besieged and fell to the enemy. He was taken prisoner by the Babylonians in 606 BC. The king of Babylon was Nebuchadnezzar, an absolute monarch by whose word men lived or died. However, he revealed his administrative wisdom by selecting some of the princes in the palace of Yerushalayim, leaving them alive, and took them back to Babylon. There, he treated them very well, educated them in Babylonian schools, and gained their loyalty. It was then his plan to send them back to their home country to rule over their own countrymen to exact the tributes required. He intended these young princes should have no other loyalty to any other living person than himself. To accomplish this, these young princes, including Daniy'el, were castrated so they could have no family, no wife, nor children; but were to serve only their king, Nebuchadnezzar, all of their lives. So young Daniy'el became a eunuch in the courts of Babylon.

Of the only true Elohiym
Daniy'el was taught from his youth, to worship only the true Elohiym, the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, and to observe all the laws of Elohiym that had been given through Mosheh. Although he faithfully served Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian king, his first allegiance and worship was to the Elohiym of Heaven. Many of the stories in the book of Daniy'el reveal his fidelity to Elohiym. In turn, Elohiym delivered and rewarded him, and his faithful friends, time after time. This is the great spiritual lesson for us in the book of Daniy'el. Daniy'el was but a youth when brought to Babylon, but he lived all through the reign of Nebuchadnezzar and even through the reign of his grandson, Belshazzar, at which time Babylon was conquered by the Medo-Persians. Not only did Daniy'el hold a high position in the courts of Babylonian kings, but also stood next to the kings of Medo-Persia because he was known as a Prophet, respected for his great wisdom, and held high offices of state by the providence of Elohiym.

Daniy'el wrote the book of Daniy'el to record his remarkable life experiences of deliverance and the excellent rewards for his fidelity to Elohiym and to the kings. For two thousand five hundred years these stories have delighted children and all other age groups.
Daniy'el reveals in his book that he was undeviating in his allegiance to live according to all the laws and statutes of the Elohiym of Heaven. He ordered his life-style, even in the face of mortal danger, to adhere to all the counsels of Elohiym in regard to diet, to the rituals of worship, in prioritizing all aspects of life, always putting Elohiym and His requirements first. Daniy'el is an example to us and especially the youth today.
Daniy'el | Nature of the Book
What is the "nature" of the book of Daniy'el? The book of Daniy'el is classified as "Prophecy". There are many who use the word "Prophecy" to refer to fortune telling, the work of psychics, channelers, and occult predictions. The word, "Prophecy" may be used to describe the practice in some churches of speaking in tongues. None of these is the kind of "Prophecy" that is found in the book of Daniy'el. The word, "Prophecy" needs to be defined as it is seen in the book of Daniy'el.
Bible Prophecy | Definition
"Prophecy" is simply history written before it happens.
"History" is a written record of that which occurred in the past. "Prophecy" not only covers past events, but reveals and explains current events; and also reveals or describes future events. For emphasis, all before they happen. From our vantage point, once a 'Prophecy' is fulfilled, it becomes 'history' and 'historical'. No man can see into the future. Satan cannot see into the future. Occultism's pretense to foresee the future, is and has always been a very hollow pretense! Occultism depends on Satan, who cannot see the future, to tell them the future! How pathetic! Well, lacking the 'Spirit of Prophecy', they resort to guessing and fail more often than not. The Creator, Elohiym, who inhabits the Heavens and eternity sees the end of all things before they begin, and it is He who inspired Daniy'el the Prophet, to write the prophecies that are contained in the Book.
The "Major line" of Prophecy in the Book of Daniy'el
Daniy'el begins in Chapter 1 to describe historical events of his own day. (606 BC). But each additional chapter moves forward in time, in a methodical manner, outlining events which would occur until, in the last chapter, he describes events which will happen at the very end of this Earth's history. Therefore, it is understood that the book of Daniy'el is constructed on a "major line" of Prophecy which reaches from six hundred years before YaHuWshuaH haMashiyach until the very end of time.
In the one "major line" of Prophecy in the book, it is seen that there are actually, four 'prophetic Outlines'. These 'Outlines' are basically the very 'dreams' or 'visions' which the Prophet was given.
Here's YaHuWaH's challenge:
- Produce your cause, says YaHuWaH; bring forth your strong reasons, says the King of Ya`aqov.
- Let them bring them forth, and show us eth what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
- Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are elohiym: ...
- Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooses you.
Book of Daniy'el | Purposes
The purpose of the four prophetic outlines in the book of Daniy'el were intended to give the people of Elohiym in every age a knowledge of where they are in the stream of time. None of the outlines tell the day and hour of the coming of YaHuWshuaH, but they throw a flood of light on events which transpire so that Elohiym's people may trace the past, pinpoint where they are in the present, and be warned in regard to that which will occur in the future.
The Purposes of the Prophecies in the book of Daniy'el and of all "Prophecy" in general, is rather simple, but fundamental. As YaHuWshuaH put it In YeshaYahuw 41:4:
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I YaHuWaH, the first, and with the last; I am he.
In Yahuwchanon 8:28 KJV,
Then said YaHuWshuaH unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he
Finally, In Yahuwchanon 13:19 KJV
Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
Four times, Elohiym permitted Daniy'el to see, in vision, the history of the world from his own day (606-538 BC) to the restoration of the kingdom of Elohiym on Earth. These four historic-prophetic Outlines trace the rise and fall of empires from 606 BC (about 600 years before haMashiyach) to our own day, and are therefore in the most, “history”. These Outlines continue to reveal future events, which make them “prophetic” too. Only the Creator, Elohiym of Heaven, is able to foresee the future and make 100 percent accurate revelations about future events.
He who Is Wisdom, didn't just pour forth a torrent of words. He gave them in a way that only Wisdom can. The perfect organization of the book; the choice of words; the literary chiasms and artistry; the sequence of events and their precision, embodied in the work, is stunning. Elohiym organized the book in a very orderly manner, forming Outlines, timelines, symbols and figures designed to protect the book from those to whom it is pointing accusing fingers. The 'Outline' nature of the Visions has a string of purposes.
The purpose of the four prophetic Outlines in the book of Daniy'el were intended to give the people of Elohiym in every age a knowledge of where they are in the stream of time. None of the Outlines tell the day and hour of the coming of YaHuWshuaH, but they throw a flood of light on events which will transpire so that Elohiym's people may trace the past, pinpoint where they are in the present, and be warned in regard to that which will occur in their future. It reveals their part and role in it.
There are other purposes which are met in the book of Daniy'el:
- It reveals an omniscient Elohiym who can predict the future.
- It reveals Elohiym's love and care for all who love Him and are obedient to His will.
- It reveals seven great deliverances, some in the past, and others yet to come.
- It focuses on character development of virtues such as fidelity, and trust in Elohiym.
- It warns against counterfeit religion.
- It explains the political rise and fall of great empires.
- It describes events occurring in the Heavens.
- It entertains and helps children to know that Elohiym is love.
- It prepares the Bible student to understand the book of Revelation.
- It brings historical events into focus so that we may see the Great Controversy between good and evil progressing toward a victorious end.
The Bible, from Bereshiyt (Genesis) to Chizayon (Revelation), reveals the fact that there is a great struggle going on between Elohiym and Satan to gain control of this Earth. Although Elohiym is the Creator and the rightful Owner, He gave the "dominion" or rulership of this Earth to Adam, who sadly, gave it over to Satan. Elohiym is therefore placed in a position to figure out a way to wrest the Earth back from Satan, legitimately. Mission, accomplished, when YaHuWshuaH celebrated victory on the Cross, crying out, "It is finished!" Satan lost the War.
And Elohiym said, Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion ...over all the Earth.

Given Dominion by Elohiym
When Satan (embodied in a serpent), caused Adam to disobey Elohiym, Adam effectively chose Satan as his new master. In so doing, he gave over to Satan the dominion over the Earth which Elohiym gave him! However, it was Elohiym who gave Adam and all his descendants intelligence and the power of choice. It was this special gift that made the 'transaction' between Adam and Satan, possible. YaHuWshuaH haMashiyach, by His death at Calvary, purchased back from Satan the 'Dominion'.
It has been Satan's plan from the beginning to bring the entire world under his own control so that all mankind will worship him instead of the true Elohiym. He has tried many devices to establish a one-world government and by choice or by force to bring all mankind under his power and authority. His most effective device has been that of establishing a counterfeit form of worship.
Sun worship, was a counterfeit of the worship of the true Creator - Elohiym, and by the time of Daniy'el, it had encircled the world. Its extension into all cultures is evident by the pyramids of Egypt and Central America, by the remnants of Druid worship in England and the many temples all over the Earth. All the countries around Yashar'el were Sun worshipers, and enemies of Yashar'el who worshiped the true Elohiym of Heaven. Daniy'el was carried captive right into the midst of a Sun worshiping culture. Elohiym placed him and his faithful friends in the midst of Babylon to be representatives of the true Creator Elohiym. Through Daniy'el and his friends the knowledge of the true Creator Elohiym was to be spread to all the then known world, and preserved in the Bible even to our own day.
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon intended that his empire and forms of Sun worship should exist as long as time would last. But Elohiym wanted His people to know the truth, as to how the "scepter of power and authority" or "sovereignty" or "dominion" would be transferred from one great empire to another, until at last, the kingdoms of this world would be restored to Elohiym's people.
Daniy'el chapter 2
Daniy'el 2 presents the First Prophetic Outline that introduces four great empires. The rise and fall of those empires would affect Elohiym's people. It begins with the Babylonian Empire reaching to the Second Coming of haMashiyach. Daniy'el 2 is the basic historical outline on which all three following historical-Prophetic outlines rest, and introduces the use of symbols found in the Book of Daniy'el and the Book of Revelation.

“...thou art this head of gold.”
BABYLON: 606-538 BC
“And after thee shall arise a kingdom inferior to thee ...”
(Breast and arms of silver)
MEDO-PERSIA: 538-331 BC
“...and another third kingdom of brass…”
GRECIA: 331-168 BC
“And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron ...”
(Legs of iron.)
ROME: 168 BC to 476 AD
Breakup of the Roman Empire
“...the toes and feet, part of potter's clay, and part of iron ...”
the bickering nations of western Europe
"Note: Scripture declares that the separate national entities left over from the breakup of Imperial Rome will never be put back together to form one cohesive nation or empire. Also, concerning efforts of the Royal Families of Europe to unite through marriage, Scripture declares: “whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay”. (Daniy'el 2:43)
The Four “Historical-Prophetic Outlines” in the book of Daniy'el:
Four times, Elohiym permitted Daniy'el to see, in vision, the history of the world from his own day (606-538 BC) to the restoration of the kingdom of Elohiym on Earth. These four historic-Prophetic outlines trace the rise and fall of empires from 606 BC (about 600 years before haMashiyach) to our own day, and are therefore “historical.” These outlines continue to reveal future events, which make them “Prophetic” too. Only the Creator Life-giving Elohiym of Heaven, is able to foresee the future and make 100 percent accurate revelations about future events.
The Four Historic-Prophetic Outlines
Daniy'el 2, 7, 8-9, & 11-12:1-13.
Each additional outline begins by repeating or “re-capping” that which was contained in the previous outline, so the Bible student can be sure he is on the “right track” before adding more information. This repetitive structure in the book of Daniy'el is called “recapitulation.” Recapitulation ensures accurate application to historical events. Each additional historical-Prophetic outline recapitulates the basic established information in the prior vision, using other descriptive terms to supply more specific detail. Then each additional vision gives added information, moving forward in time and enlarging the Prophetic picture, clear to the end of the book.

The Rise and Fall of Seven Empires in the Book of Daniy'el:
The Book of Daniy'el is the story of the rise and fall of seven empires. The short stories in the Book of Daniy'el, Chapters 1-6, such as “Daniy'el in the Lions' Den,” “The Three Hebrews in the Fiery Furnace” and “Belshazzar's Feast with the Hand-Writing on the Wall,” have delighted both children and adults. These stories explain the issues which caused the rise and fall of the first two empires. But Chapters 7-12 explain the rise and fall of seven empires that shall reign before YaHuWshuaH's second-coming.
Prophetic Outline Sequence and Continuity | A “Hermeneutic Principle”
-
“Outline”
- Outline is the orderly arrangement of items in sequence and continuity.
In the four historical-Prophetic outlines of Daniy'el, each item or verse is arranged within it's outline in chronological sequence along the stream of time, and time is always moving forward. We cannot live yesterday over again, nor can we jump into next year. Therefore, the verses in an historical-Prophetic outline must be kept in their inspired sequence and matched to the sequential events of history. This is the key to a valid, logical approach to Prophecy Exposition.
The Historicist “School” of Prophecy Exposition
Keeping the sequence and continuity of verses within an historical-Prophetic outline in their order, is a hermeneutic principle of Prophecy Exposition. This logical method of Biblical application is known as “The Historicist 'School' of Biblical [Interpretation] Exposition”. This “logical exposition” of Prophecy must be observed in the study of all historical-Prophetic outlines in both Daniy'el and the Revelation of YaHuWshuaH haMashiyach.
Now you may delve into the details of the The four historic-Prophetic outlines found in Daniy'el, chapters Chapter 2, | Chapter 7 | Chapters 8-9, | and Chapters 10-12:1-13
...and even deeper details in these parts of the last outline: Daniy'el 12 | Daniy'el 12:6-7 | Daniy'el 12:11 | Daniy'el 12:12
Back to Pane topProphecies in The Book Of Revelation
YaHuWshuaH's Agenda from Ascension to Second Coming.
The book of Daniy'el is foundational Prophecy. Revelation is an explanation of the Daniy'el Prophecy. Neither book can be understood without the other. The Spirit of Prophecy calls for the two (kindred) books to be studied together, taken together, bound together. Marian G. Berry's Book, "Daniy'el And Revelation Bound Together", does exactly that. Blessed is she, indeed.
The structure of the book of Daniy'el and that of the book of Revelation follows the same pattern. Daniy'el has four : “Heavenly Visions,” but Yahuwchanon saw eight “Heavenly Visions,” in the Revelation. In both Daniy'el and Revelation, an Historical-Prophetic outline follows each Heavenly Scene. In both books, the Historical-Prophetic outlines are interrupted by an “Interlude” or question, and at the end of each Prophetic outline there is an end-time event or answer brought to view. The typical sequence of presentations in both books is shown below:
These two books should be carefully perused. ... It was the Lion of the tribe of Yahuwdah who unsealed the book and gave to Yahuwchanon the Revelation of what should be in these last days. Daniy'el stood in his lot to bear his testimony, which was sealed until the time of the end, when the First Angel's message should be proclaimed to our world. These matters are of infinite importance in these last days... . The book of Daniy'el is unsealed in the Revelation to Yahuwchanon, and it carries us forward to the last scenes of this Earth's history.

The Literary Structure of Revelation is an interpretive guide. Whereas in the past, the book of Revelation has appeared to be fractured, disconnected, and confusing; the revealing of the literary structure in the book now puts the Prophetic events into their correct positions relative to the total Prophecy. This permits the entire book to come alive with meaning especially for this last generation who have the particular need to understand it's Prophetic message.
The structure of a book shows how the book is put together. The Revelation is an inspired book of the Bible, and it is the inspired structure of this book that is the key which opens up its meaning and message, permitting the Bible to be its own Interpreter.
Not a theologian, but a professor of English literature recently discovered that there is a literary pattern in the basic structure of Revelation. When that structural pattern is recognized and applied, it reveals the correct timing for each Historical-Prophetic Outline in the book; such as the seven seals, the seven trumpets, and the seven Plagues. Knowledge about the very orderly structure of Revelation exposes the errors of “private interpretations,” and removes the idea that this Prophetic book is fragmented and disorganized. Rather, the structure of Revelation reveals the organized plan that Elohiym has appropriately devised for the liberation of his people from sin, their enemies, death and this present world.
Two Major Lines of Prophecy
"The book of Revelation is divided exactly in half. Chapters 1-11 make up the First Major Line of Prophecy. This major line of Prophecy spans the time between the ascension of haMashiyach in 31 AD to His Second-Coming. The Second Major Line of Prophecy in Chapters 12 - 22 is longer. It spans the time between the fall ofLuciferHeylel in Heaven to his destruction in the lake of fire, and the creation of a new Heaven and a new Earth. The two “Major Lines of Prophecy” can be superimposed one upon the other, which ties major events, common to both, together.
The Relationships Between Both “Major Lines of Prophecy”
"The First Major Line of Prophecy uses Sanctuary typology, and some figurative language. The Second Major Line of Prophecy uses symbolism from chapter 12 to 22. Both Major lines of Prophecy reveal YaHuWshuaH haMashiyach directing the course and outcome of events which must occur upon the Earth, and preparing the way so that His people can be legally delivered from this present world, and made ready for Heaven."
Similar Structure of Daniy'el and Revelation
"Daniy'el, who wrote the book of Daniy'el, and the Apostle Yahuwchanon, who wrote the book of Revelation, were both Prophets to whom Elohiym gave Visions. The descriptions of what they saw in these Visions are each called a “Heavenly Scene” in the book ( Daniy'el and Revelation Bound Together ). Daniy'el saw four “Heavenly Scenes” to record in his book of Daniy'el, and Yahuwchanon saw eight Heavenly Scenes to record in his book of Revelation.
Immediately after a “Heavenly Scene,” both Prophets were given a Historical-Prophetic Outline of events in sequential order. These Prophetic Outlines were time-sequenced events, affecting Elohiym's people that are matched to sequential events in the history of the church, the rise and fall of nations, political developments, and world history. In both Daniy'el and in Revelation, as well as in both Major Prophetic Outlines, the Great Controversy between good and evil is plainly presented. The end-time Persecutor of Elohiym's people is introduced in Daniy'el's Prophecy. The nature, scope and purposes of the Persecutor's work is amplified and expanded in the book of Revelation".
It is not the intention of this website to rewrite the 'inspired works', but to introduce you to them and to make them available to you. We plead that you read these wonderful works that move the Church forward from Uriah Smith and the Pre-Advent Movements, to date. We cannot remain at the knowledge level of our Fathers but must move forward with increasing light.
Uriah Smith, Mervyn Maxwell and many other wonderful brethren enlightened us with the experiences of Prophecy up to 1844. Marian G. Berry carries us forward to the close of probation but does not detail the nature of most Prophetic events at the end. The Former sdaProphetic Ministries, now eleventhhour Ministries, took us away from the assumption that the 'stone cut-out without hands' in Daniy'el 2 refers to haMashiyach. The 'Stone' is not haMashiyach directly, but to His final Army - the 144,000. Get updated beloved. Visit 11th-hourministries . For this and other thrilling Prophecy updates - The Woman of Revelation 12, the 144,000, ZekarYahuw Chapter Six, Yechezkiy'el Chapter 9, and a host of others.
Marian G. Berry upended our historical assumptions that Daniy'el chapter 12 is a repetition of Daniy'el 7 et al! Daniy'el 12 is the Epilogue of the Prophetic Panorama begun in Daniy'el 2. The last part of the history of the World and the experiences soon to be had by the Last Generation of Elohiym's people. You've never seen anything like these. Lay hold of the inspired expositions in her books here. She also brings us up to date on the 7 Seals, the 7 Trumpets and a host of other very important Prophecies. The Song of Songs is the one Prophecy book of the Bible that defied comprehension. But not any more. YaHuWaH illuminated this enigmatic book for our fullest comprehension. It has a lot to reveal in the Plan of Redemption.
(Zech 14:4 KJV) And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Yerushalayim on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
ZekarYahuw 14:5 KJV And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Yahuwdah: and YaHuWaH my Elohiym shall come, and all the Saints with thee.
ZekarYahuw 14:6 KJV And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
ZekarYahuw 14:7 KJV But it shall be one day which shall be known to YaHuWaH, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
ZekarYahuw 14:8 KJV And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Yerushalayim; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
ZekarYahuw 14:9 KJV And YaHuWaH shall be king over all the Earth: in that day shall there be one MASTER, and his name one.
"At the close of the thousand years, haMashiyach again returns to the Earth. He is accompanied by the host of the redeemed and attended by a retinue of Angels. As He descends in terrific majesty He bids the wicked dead arise to receive their doom. They come forth, a mighty host, numberless as the sands of the sea. What a contrast to those who were raised at the first resurrection! The righteous were clothed with immortal youth and beauty. The wicked bear the traces of disease and death. Every eye in that vast multitude is turned to behold the glory of the Son of Elohiym. With one voice the wicked hosts exclaim: "Blessed is He that cometh in the name !" It is not love to YaHuWshuaH that inspires this utterance. The force of truth urges the words from unwilling lips. As the wicked went into their graves, so they come forth with the same enmity to haMashiyach and the same spirit of rebellion. They are to have no new probation in which to remedy the defects of their past lives. Nothing would be gained by this. A lifetime of transgression has not softened their hearts. A second probation, were it given them, would be occupied as was the first in evading the requirements of Elohiym and exciting rebellion against Him.
haMashiyach descends upon the Mount of Olives, whence, after His resurrection, He ascended, and where angels repeated the promise of His return. Says the Prophet: " YaHuWaH my Elohiym shall come, and all the Saints with Thee." "And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Yerushalayim on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof, ... and there shall be a very great valley." "And YaHuWaH shall be king over all the Earth: in that day shall there be one MASTER, and His name one." ZekarYahuw 14:5, 4, 9. As the New Yerushalayim, in its dazzling splendor, comes down out of Heaven, it rests upon the place purified and made ready to receive it, and haMashiyach, with His people and the Angels, enters the Holy City.
